    On August 24th, 2016, Shandong Education Press successfully held the Launching Ceremony of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Other Nations & Copyright License Signing Ceremony of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Arabian Countries in the West No. 1 Comprehensive Exhibition Hall of the main venue of the Beijing International Book Fair.

    Leaders and guests from academic circle attending the ceremony are Li Jianchen, Deputy Director of the Planning and Development Department of State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Morsy, Counsellor for Cultural, Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in China, Director Si Anmin and Deputy Director Sun Xinglin of Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Shandong Province, Liu Ziwen, Director of Publication Administration of Shandong Province, Chi Yun, Editor in Chief of Shandong Publishing Group, Hu Peng, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Publishing Group and General Manager of Shandong Publishing and Media Inc., Chen Gang, Executive Deputy General Manager of Shandong Publishing and Media Inc., Professor Lu Jiande, Director of Institute of Literature at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Qian Linsen, chief editor of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Other Nations series and the winner of the “Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Comparative Literature”, and Professor Li Mingbin, Professor Zhao Zhenjiang, Professor ZhiPuhao and authors of other volumes, and Liu Dongjie, President of Shandong Education Press.

    Chi Yun, Editor in Chief of Shandong Publishing Group, said, the publication of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Other Nations not only has academic values, but also contributes to spreading the long history of literary and cultural communications to the world, especially to the Eastern and Western academia.

    Hussein Ibrahim Morsy, Counsellor for Cultural, Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in China, stated that the friendly communication between countries lies in the closeness of their people. Exchanges in culture and literature play crucial and indispensable roles in people’s communication between countries with different cultural traditions and ethnic mentality. With grand and substantial content, The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Arabian Countries presents the full picture of cultural and literary communications between China and Arabian countries during over two thousand years, which is worth spreading in Egypt and other Arabian countries.

    Focusing on the first-class team building, meticulous scholarship, research method innovation and other aspects, Professor Lu Jiande spoke highly of the series in his speech and likened it to a rare academic peak in comparative literature studies.

    Professor Qian Linsen, briefly reviewed the ten-year arduous process of planning and writing the book series, expounded the research concept, academic pursuit, responsibility of the team members, and praised their spirit of innovation and determination to overcome difficulties in his speech. He argued that the activity of writing the series is a large-scale assembly of research teams engaging in Chinese and foreign literary relation studies in comparative literature academia, and is a general review of research achievements of outstanding scholars in this field.

    Counsellor Hussein Ibrahim, on behalf of Egyptian Wisdom-house Press signed the copyright import license with Shandong Education Press for The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Arabian Countries.

    2016 happens to be the China-Egypt Year of Exchange, so that the copyright export of the book in Arabic will be one of the important activities, which is of great significance to promote and inherit the friendship and cooperation spirits of the Silk Road, as well as to further encourage the exchange and communication between China and Egypt.

    Liu Dongjie, President of Shandong Education Press held an in-depth conversation with Counsellor Hussein Ibrahim about the publication and promotion of The History of Literary Exchanges between China and Arabian Countries in Egypt.

    Counsellor Hussein Ibrahim Morsy demonstrated to the CCTV reporters that the spread of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Other Nations has promoting and enlightening significance for the development of The Belt and Road as well as properly telling the friendly communication stories between China and foreign countries.

    In recent years, based on the research and development of high-quality and export-oriented books, Shandong Education Press has been actively carrying out worldwide copyright cooperation, and has made great progress in copyright export and import trades. Up to now, there have been over 100 copyright export projects, and the copyrights have been exported to Germany, Australia, Russia, South Korea, etc. In 2016, after successfully signing the copyright and export contract with Korean Wisdom House Publishing of The History of Literary Exchanges China—North and South Korea, Shandong Education Press signed the copyright and export contract with Observer Research Foundation (Mumbai) and Indian PrakashanSansthan Press for The History of Literary Exchange Between China and India (in English and Hindi). A few days ago, in the lists of 2016 Silk Road Book—Key Translated Works Funding Project and “China Classics International” (CCI) Funding Project released by SAPPRFT, The History of Literary Exchange Between China and India (in English and Hindi) and A Critical Biography of Ji Xianlin (in Hindi) obtained the funding of the Silk Road Book Project, and The History of Literary Exchanges China—North and South Korea (in Korean) obtained the funding of CCI. Moreover, The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and the UK(in traditional Chinese) has been published by famous Wan Juan Lou Press in Taipei. The copyright license and export agreement signing of The History of Literary Exchanges Between China and Arabian Countries (in Arabic) is a new achievement which will contribute to the international development of Shandong Education Press.
